LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Buyer for a leading automotive manufacturing company. This position is ideal for a procurement professional with a strong background in supplier management, strategic sourcing, inventory control, and manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials and components necessary to support production schedules while driving cost savings, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of automotive components, raw materials, and indirect supplies to support production requirements and customer demand.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with company objectives for cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Monitor inventory levels and material requirements, collaborating with production planning teams to ensure material availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing, contracts, lead times, and service agreements.
- Evaluate supplier performance through KPI tracking, quality metrics, and delivery performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and logistics teams to support new product launches, engineering changes, and production initiatives.
- Analyze purchasing trends, market conditions, and material costs to identify savings opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Support production schedules by proactively addressing material shortages, supplier constraints, and logistics challenges.
- Ensure accurate purchasing records, inventory transactions, and material planning data within the ERP system.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier development, inventory optimization, and supply chain efficiency.
- Prepare reports and presentations related to purchasing performance, cost reduction initiatives, supplier metrics, and inventory management.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, automotive industry standards, and customer-specific requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience within an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Experience procuring direct materials, production components, and supplier-managed inventory.
- Working knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and inventory management principles.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Plex, QAD, or similar platforms.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost savings and supplier performance improvements.
- Ability to interpret production forecasts and material requirements planning data.
- Experience supporting lean manufacturing, just-in-time (JIT), and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and supplier networks.
