Estimator (Metal Roofing)

A well-established specialist contractor within the roofing, cladding and building envelope sector is seeking an experienced Estimator (Metal & Flat Roofing) to join its growing commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with experience in metal roofing, flat roofing or related envelope systems to play a key role in securing profitable projects and supporting continued business growth.

Working closely with commercial, technical and operational teams, you will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover.

• Produce accurate and competitive estimates for metal and flat roofing projects.
\n
• Complete detailed take-offs and quantity measurements from drawings, specifications and site information.
\n
• Source and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
\n
• Build detailed labour, plant and material rates for roofing systems.
\n
• Review tender documentation and identify risks, exclusions and commercial opportunities.
\n
• Develop well-presented tender submissions within required timescales.
\n
• Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions.
\n
• Support project handovers to operational teams following contract award.
\n
• Maintain estimating records, tender trackers and pricing databases.
\n
• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout the tender

Essential:

\n
• Previous estimating experience within metal roofing, flat roofing or a related building envelope discipline.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
\n
• Experience completing take-offs and quantity measurements.
\n
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project costs, margins and risk.
\n
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
\n
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
\n
• Proficiency with Excel and estimating software.
\n

Desirable:

\n
• Experience pricing rainscreen cladding or fire remediation projects.
\n
• Construction-related qualification such as Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or Construction Management.
\n
• Knowledge of leading metal and flat roofing systems and manufacturers.
\n
• Previous experience working within a growing specialist contractor.
