About Easthorpe School\n

Welcome to Easthorpe School, an independent specialist provision dedicated to serving children and young people in the East Midlands. Since opening our doors in November 2022, we have been committed to providing a nurturing environment for pupils who may live with their families, foster carers, or in residential homes.

As we expand our Lower School (ages 7-13), we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team. With class sizes capped at six pupils, each classroom is supported by a qualified teacher and up to two teaching assistants. Our focus is on pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and various diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and more.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced teaching assistants to help shape our new provision and enrich the lives of our pupils!

Your Role and Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
  • \n
  • Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons and contribute to lesson planning.
  • \n
  • Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with other staff to meet their needs.
  • \n
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
  • \n
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
  • \n
What We’re Looking For\n
    \n
  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
  • \n
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with SEMH pupils.
  • \n
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
  • \n
  • Experience in behavior management techniques.
  • \n
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
  • \n
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which will be covered by Selwyn Hall School.
