About This OpportunityAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Accountant to join a leading defence and aerospace organisation based at Oxford Airport. The Project Accountant role offers a fantastic chance to work on high-profile defence projects whilst supporting financial reporting and bid campaigns.This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite minimum, offering flexibility and modern working practices.The Project Accountant RoleThe Project Accountant will be responsible for:Providing financial reporting on defence projects and supporting bid campaignsValidating the financial integrity of offers in liaison with senior managementDeveloping work breakdown structures and project plans for contract proposalsPreparing operating plans and monitoring budget forecastsEnsuring accurate allocation of costs and timely hour bookings across programmesPreparing Group contract reviews and monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC) updatesSupporting month-end closing and financial reporting processesMaintaining defence-related financial data in SAP systemsProviding ad hoc financial support and challenging delivery teams where necessaryAbout The Project Accountant You AreEssential Requirements:Professional accountancy qualification or part qualificationExperience within a financial controlling and/or project reporting departmentStrong knowledge of accountancy principlesExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficiency with MS Office and ExcelSolid understanding of work package management and controlKnowledge of risk management principlesAbility to coordinate multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet tight deadlinesStructured and methodical approach to planning and trackingDesirable Qualifications:Experience with SAP systemsProject accounting experienceKnowledge of Single Source Regulatory framework and Contract RegulationsFamiliarity with MoD Commercial and Accountancy proceduresWhat The Company OffersCompetitive Pay: £33.10 per hour (PAYE) or £44.28 per hour (Umbrella)Contract Duration: 12 months with possible extensionWorking Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00 (37.5 hours per week)Flexibility: Hybrid working with 3 days onsite minimumLocation: Oxford, with occasional UK and European travelSecurity Clearance: Opportunity to obtain MoD Security Clearance (DBS required, current SC preferred)Professional Environment: Working on significant defence projects within an established aerospace organisationKey RequirementsRight to work in the UK (all applicants must demonstrate this)Eligible for MoD Security ClearanceFull driving licence preferred (not essential)Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally within EuropeWhy Apply For This Project Accountant Position?This Project Accountant role provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise within the defence sector whilst working with a well-established organisation.
