This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of one of the UK's leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions businesses, partnering with senior leaders across the organisation to provide strategic legal advice and commercial support.You'll play a key role in helping Tarmac successfully manage legal risk, support business growth and deliver major projects, all while working within a collaborative and forward-thinking legal team.The OpportunityAs Commercial Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice across a broad range of commercial matters, supporting multiple business units and stakeholders throughout Tarmac.You will be responsible for negotiating and advising on complex commercial contracts and projects, managing disputes, supporting various initiatives and helping shape the legal strategy behind key business decisions.This is a highly visible role that offers exposure to senior leadership, strategic projects and a diverse range of legal challenges.Main ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will:Provide commercial legal advice across Tarmac's operations and business functionsDraft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, and supply agreementsManagement and resolution of contract-related disputesSupport the legal response to health and safety incidents and regulatory mattersPartner with operational and functional leaders to identify and manage legal risksSupport on regulatory and compliance issues as part of commercial mattersSupport intellectual property protection and strategy across the businessSupport on commercial elements of M&AWork alongside external legal advisersSupport strategic projects, joint ventures, collaboration agreements and corporate initiativesDeliver legal training and guidance to colleagues across the organisationDevelop and maintain legal templates, toolkits and best practice resourcesWhat We're Looking ForEssentialQualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal ExecutiveExperience in commercial law gained in private practice, in-house or a combination of bothSolid experience drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial contractsExperience managing commercial disputes and legal riskExcellent stakeholder management and influencing skillsStrong commercial awareness and pragmatic decision-making abilityOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsDesirableIn-house legal experience within a large corporate organisationExperience supporting regulated industries, manufacturing, construction or infrastructure environmentsKnowledge of health and safety regulatory mattersFamiliarity with intellectual property issuesFamiliarity with competition law and data protectionWhy TarmacWe don't just offer a job, we offer a career.Alongside this role, you'll have access to industry-leading rewards, development opportunities, and a culture that puts people first, including:Bonus schemeEnhanced holiday entitlementContributory pension schemeAccess to the Tarmac Reward website with discounts on retailers, holidays, etc.Access to our Employee Assistance helpline for free and confidential adviceAccess to join our Employee Communities (employee networks) we currently have nine communities inc.
