Assistant Construction Project Manager
Job Description
Assistant Construction Project Manager
\nManchester area
\n£28,000 to £35,000 + benefits
\nPermanent | Full-Time
\nEarly in your career, the people teaching you matter just as much as the projects you work on.
\nThis is an early career construction project management role within the property and built environment sector. It is aimed at someone with a construction related degree who wants to develop into a capable, client facing Project Manager.
\nThe company
\nI am supporting a growing construction consultancy with a strong pipeline of residential and regeneration work.
\nThe business is known for looking after its people and providing a friendly, supportive environment where junior employees are encouraged to ask questions and learn from experienced colleagues.
\nPeople tend to stay with the company, and progression happens when someone is ready to take the next step rather than being restricted to a fixed annual promotion cycle.
\nThe opportunity
\nYou will work on high rise residential developments, major masterplans and the creation of new communities.
\nThe role will give you exposure across the full project lifecycle, from early planning and pre construction through contractor procurement, contract administration and on site delivery.
\nYou will attend client and project meetings, support programmes and reporting, coordinate with architects, engineers and contractors, and gradually take greater ownership as your knowledge and confidence develop.
\nYou will also build an understanding of NEC and JCT contracts and learn how major building projects are managed from the client’s perspective.
\nThe aim is to help you progress into a confident Construction Project Manager. The company will support and fund your professional development towards chartership.
\nThe person we are looking for
\nYou may be graduating, recently qualified or already have around 1 to 2 years of construction industry experience.
\nYou should have, or be completing, a degree in Construction Project Management, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering or another closely related built environment subject.
\nSome experience gained through employment, a placement year, site work or previous exposure to a contractor, housebuilder, developer or consultancy would be beneficial.
\nMore importantly, you should be curious, professional and willing to ask questions. You will need to communicate confidently, build positive relationships and demonstrate a genuine desire to develop a long term career in construction project management.
\nThe salary is expected to be between £28,000 and £35,000, depending on your qualifications and previous experience.
\nThe company is unable to provide visa sponsorship, so applicants must already have the permanent right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
\nInterviews are expected to begin quickly and the position may close once a suitable shortlist has been identified.
\nApply now by submitting your CV, or to learn more, contact Dean Forster at Tempest Jones directly on [email protected].
