About the Role

\n

This Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) position is focused on Aerodrome (Tower) and/or Approach control within a major international airspace environment. The role is designed for experienced controllers who are fully licensed and endorsed to manage complex aircraft movements both on the ground and in controlled airspace. The primary purpose is to ensure the safe, orderly, and efficient flow of air traffic in accordance with ICAO standards, local regulations, and the unit’s operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Manage and control inbound, outbound, and surface/aerodrome aircraft movements, ensuring safe separation and efficient sequencing in accordance with ATCO licence privileges and competency endorsements.
  • \n
  • Provide Air Traffic Services (ATS) in strict compliance with ICAO provisions, local regulatory requirements, and the unit’s operational instructions and procedures.
  • \n
  • Make rapid, accurate decisions in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, situational awareness, and operational performance.
  • \n
  • Actively support and adhere to the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QMS), contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • \n
  • Identify, escalate, and document abnormal events, hazards, and technical serviceability issues using the approved occurrence reporting and safety management processes.
  • \n
  • Maintain operational currency and competence through regular participation in proficiency checks, simulation exercises, and ongoing professional development activities.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with other controllers, pilots, technical staff, and airport stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and effective communication across all phases of aircraft movement.
  • \n
  • Participate in operational improvement initiatives, including procedure reviews, incident debriefings, and implementation of new technologies or best practices.
  • \n
  • Undertake additional operational or administrative duties as assigned to support service delivery and organizational objectives.

Required Experience & Skills

\n
    \n
  • Valid and current Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) licence with active ratings relevant to Aerodrome (Tower) and/or Approach control, supported by up-to-date rating certificates.
  • \n
  • Minimum of 5 years of continuous, post-APC (Area Proficiency Check) controlling experience in a major international airspace or airport environment, demonstrating proficiency in managing high-density, complex traffic scenarios.
  • \n
  • Proven ability to operate effectively under pressure, making sound operational judgments and maintaining composure during abnormal or emergency situations.
  • \n
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including ICAO English Language Proficiency at Level 4 or above, with the ability to convey clear, concise instructions and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Comprehensive understanding of ICAO standards, local regulatory frameworks, and operational procedures relevant to the assigned unit.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and compliance, with experience in hazard identification, occurrence reporting, and participation in SMS/QMS activities.
  • \n
  • High level of situational awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, real-time operational environment.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in the use of radar, surveillance, and communication systems, as well as electronic flight progress strips and other ATC support tools.
  • \n
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a positive operational culture.

Qualifications

  • Current ATCO licence with valid Aerodrome (Tower) and/or Approach control ratings, as applicable to the operational unit.
  • \n
  • Valid ATCO medical certificate meeting ICAO and local regulatory standards.
  • \n
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency endorsement at Level 4 or higher.
  • \n
  • Evidence of successful completion of ICAO-aligned training and ongoing proficiency activities for all ratings held.
  • \n
  • 5+ years of continuous operational experience in a major international environment following successful completion of an Area Proficiency Check (APC).
  • \n
  • Strong references and a professional CV/resume demonstrating relevant experience and competencies.
