SEN Principal – Special School | Billingshurst | £79,460 - £85,547
\nWe're recruiting an experienced Principal to lead a non-maintained special school in Billingshurst.
\nThis special school supports students aged 3-19 with neurological motor impairments including Cerebral Palsy, alongside associated medical and sensory needs, using a Conductive Education approach that focuses on the holistic development of every student, including physical and communication skills. Facilities include woodland and outdoor classroom space, a high specification sensory room and a swimming pool.
\nAbout the SEN Principal Role
\nThis is a highly visible senior leadership role with responsibility for the overall performance, development and strategic direction of the special school. As Principal, you'll lead a multidisciplinary team, ensure compliance with all statutory and safeguarding requirements, and create a culture where students and staff can thrive. The role requires strong commercial awareness, exceptional people management skills, and a genuine passion for delivering life-changing SEN education.
\nStrategic Leadership

- Provide inspirational leadership across the special school provision \n
- Lead strategic development and future growth of the campus \n
- Develop and deliver school improvement plans aligned to organisational strategy \n
- Drive innovation and diversification to strengthen and expand SEN services \n
- Support active marketing and promotion of the school's educational offer \n
Operational Management
\n- \n
- Take overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, resource management and occupancy levels \n
- Ensure all statutory, regulatory and safeguarding requirements are fully met \n
- Maintain strong governance relationships with the Local Governing Body, Chair and Governors \n
- Build productive partnerships with Local Authorities, commissioners, parents and external stakeholders \n
People Leadership

- Lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams \n
- Create a culture of high performance, accountability and continuous improvement \n
- Recruit, coach and develop educational and support staff \n
- Champion staff wellbeing, engagement and professional development \n
- Drive a "grow our own" culture through talent development and succession planning \n
Student Outcomes

- Ensure students' educational, physical, emotional and safeguarding needs are fully met \n
- Deliver a high-quality, responsive, outcomes-focused approach to SEN education \n

About You
\n- \n
- Significant senior leadership experience within education \n
- Experience leading complex or multi-site educational provisions \n
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, education regulation and risk management \n
- Proven experience in strategic planning, budget management and service development \n
- Outstanding leadership and people management skills \n
- Ability to build strong relationships with parents, governors, commissioners, Local Authorities and partner agencies \n
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting organisational growth \n
