Performing Arts Production Assistants - Design and Wardrobe (Zero-hours)
Job Description
Brighton College is seeking to appoint Performing Arts Production Assistants - Design and Wardrobe on a Zero-hour basis.
\nReporting to: Head of Technical and Production
\nMain purpose of the role:
\nThis role supports the delivery of Brighton College's extensive Performing Arts programme, productions, events and examinations.
\nWorking as part of the wider Production and Design Team, the postholder will provide practical support across scenic construction, prop management, costume preparation, wardrobe operations, event delivery and production activities. The role will assist both the Head of Theatrical Design and Head of Wardrobe Design in ensuring the highest standards of presentation, organisation and operational delivery across all productions and events.
\nThis is a flexible casual position with hours allocated according to the operational needs of productions, projects and events throughout the academic year.
\nGeneral Duties and Responsibilities:
\nProduction Support
\n- \n
- Support the delivery of productions, performances, examinations and events across the College. \n
- Assist with the preparation, installation, operation and strike of productions and events. \n
- Support scenic construction, set dressing, prop making and prop sourcing activities as required. \n
- Assist with the preparation and management of rehearsal and performance spaces. \n
- Provide practical backstage support during productions and events. \n
- Attend production meetings as required and contribute to the effective delivery of projects. \n
Scenic and Prop Support

- Support the sourcing, creation, preparation and maintenance of props for productions and events. \n
- Assist in maintaining organised and accessible scenery and prop stores. \n
- Assist with the transportation and movement of production equipment and materials across campus. \n
Wardrobe and Costume Support
\n- \n
- Support the Head of Wardrobe Design with costume preparation, maintenance and organisation. \n
- Assist with costume fittings, alterations and preparation for performances. \n
- Support the laundering, repair and storage of costume stock. \n
- Help maintain costume stores and ensure stock remains organised and accessible. \n
- Assist with costume tracking systems and inventory management. \n
- Act as a dresser during productions when required. \n
- Support the sourcing of costume items and accessories as directed. \n
Operational Support

- Work across multiple productions and projects simultaneously, delivering agreed tasks within required deadlines. \n
- Support the preparation and maintenance of production-related facilities, workshops and storage areas. \n
- Assist with departmental administrative tasks associated with productions, stock control and project delivery. \n
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of presentation and organisation in all areas under the department's control. \n
- Support wider Performing Arts and College events as required. \n
General

- Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Production, Head of Theatrical Design or Head of Wardrobe Design, commensurate with the nature and grade of the role. \n
