Wintel Engineer

WINTEL Engineer – Basingstoke - £500 to £700 per day (Outside IR35) – 5 days onsite

FryerMiles are delighted to be working with a Major Defence Prime to assist with their recruitment of multiple WINTEL Engineers to join a large Defence programme, supporting the delivery and integration of secure Windows and Intel-based enterprise infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly secure environment, helping to deliver critical national security capabilities.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for integrating, configuring and supporting WINTEL platforms, ensuring they meet operational, security and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate WINTEL platforms into secure enterprise environments.
\n
• Deploy, configure and support Windows Server infrastructure.
\n
• Work closely with infrastructure, network, security and project teams to deliver integrated technical solutions.
\n
• Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including design documents, configuration guides and governance artefacts.
\n
• Support platform implementation, upgrades, patching and ongoing operational maintenance.
\n
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide effective technical resolutions.
\n
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with programme governance, security standards and best practices.
\n

Essential Skills & Experience

\n
• Active DV (Developed Vetting) Clearance – essential.
\n
• Proven experience as a WINTEL Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer within Defence, Government or other highly secure environments.
\n
• Strong experience with:
\n

o Windows Server o Active Directory o Enterprise Microsoft infrastructure

\n
• Experience integrating infrastructure into complex enterprise environments.
\n
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
\n
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
\n

Desirable Skills

\n
• Experience working on Defence or National Security programmes.
\n
• Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware.
\n
• Experience with enterprise backup and storage platforms.
\n
• Familiarity with Microsoft security technologies and infrastructure hardening.
\n
• Understanding of ITIL processes and change management.
\n

Please note: Due to the nature of this programme, applicants must hold active DV (Developed Vetting) Security Clearance and be eligible to work within the UK Defence sector.
