Laughing until your sides hurt.At MacIntyre, we believe every child deserves those moments.We're looking for a full-time Support Worker to join our children's home in St Albans , supporting four children and young people with learning disabilities to live happy, meaningful and gloriously ordinary lives.You'll work a mixture of early shifts (7am-3pm), late shifts (2pm-10pm) and alternate weekends.Every day makes a difference This isn't about filling time—it's about helping children build lives they enjoy.One day you might be helping someone get ready for school, celebrating a new achievement or encouraging them to make choices about their day. Another day could be spent baking together, heading to the beach, visiting a theme park or simply enjoying a trip to the park after school.The ordinary things matter just as much as the extraordinary ones.You'll be there through the routines that help children feel safe and secure, supporting with meals, personal care, medication and creating a warm, welcoming home where everyone feels they belong. Through consistency, kindness and encouragement, you'll help children develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for life.Meet the children Every child has their own personality, interests and dreams. Getting to know them is one of the most rewarding parts of the role.Alex* enjoys life's quieter moments—reading stories with a cup of tea, relaxing in the sensory room and visiting the farm.Arnold loves catching up on his favourite soaps, shopping trips and takes real pride in his work experience at the local charity shop.Dave is happiest outdoors, exploring the garden, making mud pies, laughing with the people around him and spending time at the park.Jack has a wonderful imagination and loves puzzles, games on his iPad, water play and watching his favourite Disney films.
