\nRate: £600 / day PAYE (or Umbrella) - Inside IR35
\nRandstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently recruiting for a senior Planning Engineer to work for Siemens Energy on their Marine projects.
\nThe Role:
\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to lead the planning and scheduling activities across a portfolio of complex marine engineering projects.
\nReporting to the Business Planning Manager, you will develop, maintain, and analyse integrated project schedules, ensuring accurate forecasting, identifying delivery risks, and providing schedule intelligence to project teams and customers.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\nProject Planning
\n- \n
- Develop and maintain fully integrated, resource-loaded Primavera P6 schedules, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), activity networks, and logic-driven programmes. \n
- Produce project baselines, manage change control, and ensure planning standards are consistently applied. \n
Schedule Management
\n- \n
- Monitor project progress against baseline, analysing critical path, near-critical activities, schedule health, and float consumption. \n
- Identify schedule risks and opportunities, recommending mitigation, recovery plans, and corrective actions. \n
Performance Reporting
\n- \n
- Produce weekly updates, monthly portfolio reports, look-ahead schedules, and executive dashboards. \n
- Analyse schedule performance using KPIs, including milestone performance and forecast completion dates. \n
Stakeholder Engagement
\n- \n
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Service Centres, Field Operations, Senior Management, and Customers. \n
- Provide planning expertise to support project decision-making. \n
Risk & Change Management
\n- \n
- Support quantitative and qualitative schedule risk assessments and assess the impact of proposed changes. \n
- Maintain accurate schedule records, revisions, and support customer contractual planning requirements. \n
Continuous Improvement
\n- \n
- Promote planning best practice, support the development of planning standards and templates, and mentor junior planners. \n
Essential Skills & Experience
\n- \n
- Extensive project planning experience in engineering, manufacturing, defence, marine, or energy sectors. \n
- Advanced Primavera P6 experience and a strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM). \n
- Experience developing integrated project schedules and resource planning. \n
- Excellent schedule analysis, communication, and constructive stakeholder challenge skills. \n
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail. \n
Desirable Skills
\n- \n
- APM, PMI, or Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) qualification. \n
- Schedule Risk Analysis experience. \n
- Knowledge of NEC/FIDIC or major project contracts. \n
- Power BI or Tableau experience. \n
- Experience within defence or marine engineering environments. \n
