Academic General OB/GYN

Position Overview

Our organization is currently looking for an Academic OB/GYN to join the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. The academic rank and salary will be aligned with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The selected individual will be responsible for teaching and overseeing resident physicians and medical students across various inpatient and outpatient environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruct and supervise medical students and residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Provide care in the obstetric unit and manage the benign gynecology team.
• Conduct outpatient consultations and participate in resident continuity clinics.
• Engage in overnight and weekend on-call duties.
• Round on antepartum and postpartum patients, as well as gynecologic patients.
• Offer obstetric and gynecologic consultations to inpatient and emergency departments.
• Collaborate with family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives and committees related to obstetrics and gynecology.

Preferred Qualifications

We encourage candidates with interests or experience in:

• Vulvar vaginal diseases
• Pediatric adolescent gynecology
• Pelvic pain management

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) is essential.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology is required.
• ABOG board eligibility or certification is necessary.
• Licensure eligibility by the Iowa Board of Medicine is mandatory, with active licensure required before starting the position.
• Strong clinical and surgical skills, along with excellent patient management abilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated teaching capabilities and a commitment to fostering a collaborative team environment.

About Our Organization

Our health care system includes a prominent medical college and one of the largest university-owned teaching hospitals in the nation.
