Job Description
Step into an impactful role supporting early childhood learners as a school-based Occupational Therapist on a contract basis. Work three days each week—Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday—for a total of 22.5 hours, providing dedicated services to a caseload of 20-30 pre-kindergarten students. Your expertise will enhance student engagement and growth in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapy license in Illinois
- Previous experience in school-based or pediatric occupational therapy preferred
- Comfortable conducting evaluations and writing IEPs for special education students
- Strong communication skills with both children and adults
- Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team (e.g., educators, speech therapists, psychologists)
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations for special education
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive OT evaluations for pre-K students, focusing on areas such as fine motor skills, sensory processing, and self-help abilities
- Develop and document Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as an integral team member
- Deliver targeted, evidence-based OT interventions to support student access and participation in the classroom
- Provide consultation and collaboration with teachers, staff, and families to generalize strategies across environments
- Maintain accurate records of services, progress notes, and required paperwork
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary discussions
