DUTIES: Working under the general supervision of a certified teacher, teaching assistant expectations are:
- work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects;
- provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences;
- assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assisting in the development of instructional materials as requested by the teacher;
- provide instruction using consultation and teacher developed materials on a limited basis
- utilize their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar projects;
- assist in related instructional work and duties as required.
* This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional and behavioraldisabilities in special class settings including 8:1:1, 12:1:1, 8:1:3 and/or 12:1+3
QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate Level 1, 2, 3 or Pre-Professional required. The
setting is working with high school aged students in both the classroom and lab setting.
Previous experience in a teaching setting is desirable. Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for all students. Proven success working with students with an understanding of basic principles of child development. Candidates must be able to interact comfortably with children, parents, guardians, and staff. Ability to be flexible and adjust to changes in a dynamic environment. Experience with students with disabilities and other developmental delays. Must be a team player and excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and communication (orally and written) skills. Ability to understand and follow state compliance and safety procedures as well as follow specific instructions and procedures. Computer skills are desirable.

START DATE: September 1, 2026
SALARY: $31,320.00 (2026-27) full-time base salary for Teaching Assistant Level I, additional $1,000 base salary
for Level II, III or Pre-professional), plus additional salary credit for relevant experience and/or Education. Excellent benefits are available.
