Job Overview:Our nursing team operates in collaborative settings alongside strong interdisciplinary groups, emphasizing a patient-centered care approach within a diverse work environment. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse applies evidence-based practices in line with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and directives from the medical staff. Utilizing their expertise, the registered nurse formulates a care plan that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of both patients and their families.
Qualifications-
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Experience: At least one (1) year of experience or successful completion of the Nurse Residency Program at Backus Hospital.
- License and Certification: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in good standing in Connecticut. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. Must be able to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications.

Preferred Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in the relevant clinical area.
- License and Certification: Certification in the clinical specialty area. CNOR certification is a plus.
- Fundamental understanding of nursing principles and practices.
- Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills to relay technical or complex information and instructions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with departments, colleagues, physicians, managers, and patients.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate flexibility, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Aptitude for functioning in a high-pressure environment.
- Dedication to customer service excellence.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
This role requires a high level of analytical ability to gather and interpret information from various sources. The registered nurse must be able to respond appropriately to changes, challenges, problems, and emergency situations while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
