Job Description
Step into a pivotal role supporting students aged 3-21 in a dynamic Houston-area school setting as a full-time Occupational Therapist. In this contract position, your expertise will be instrumental in fostering student growth, conducting evaluations, and implementing therapy across multiple campuses in a thoughtfully assigned zone close to your home base. Collaborate with educators and attend ARD meetings to help craft life-changing IEPs, while maintaining a manageable caseload that mixes consultative and direct services.
Key Qualifications/Experience:
- Active Texas Occupational Therapist (OT) license required
- Complete state fingerprinting and background check
- Extensive experience in school or pediatric settings (COTAs with multiple years are welcome to apply)
- Competence with SHARES and Onward software for documentation, plus maintaining IEP logs in Excel
- Ability to work independently (lead OT with no COTA support)
- Must not be a former employee or have any history of termination with a school district (affidavit required)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct OT services to approximately 30-40 students; the total caseload target is around 70 with consult-only cases included
- Rotate support among 6-7 assigned schools within a consistent geographic area
- Attend ARDs and contribute meaningfully to multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct student evaluations and develop tailored therapy plans
- Keep accurate, timely records in line with school procedures
- Use the district office as a home base and travel between assigned campuses during typical hours of 8:00-4:00 or 7:30-3:30
