CDL-A Lead Dump Driver – Local Construction Hauling

Lester Brothers Excavation is seeking an experienced CDL-A Lead Dump Driver to haul aggregates, soil, and other construction materials to and from local job sites, suppliers, and company facilities.

\n

This is a hands-on construction-driving position operating a semi-truck and trailer, including lead/end-dump configurations. It is not a driver-supervisor position.

\n

What You’ll Do

\n

\n
• Safely operate a CDL-A semi-truck and trailer on highway, construction-site, and off-road conditions.
\n
• Haul sand, gravel, stone, soil, and excavated materials.
\n
• Follow proper loading, hauling, and dumping procedures.
\n
• Complete required pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections.
\n
• Secure loads and comply with state and federal weight requirements.
\n
• Maintain accurate logs and required DOT documentation.
\n
• Communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and job-site personnel.
\n
• Report equipment defects, accidents, and safety concerns promptly.
\n
• Keep assigned equipment clean and in good working condition.
\n
• Follow company safety policies and wear required PPE.
\n

What We’re Looking For

\n

\n
• Valid Class A CDL.
\n

\n

\n
• Acceptable driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
\n
• Ability to operate a semi-truck and trailer in active construction and off-road environments.
\n
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe commercial-driving practices.
\n
• Dependable attendance and strong communication skills.
\n
• Availability for extended hours, overtime, and weekend work as needed during peak season.
\n

Preferred Experience

\n

\n
• Lead dump, end dump, or similar trailer experience.
\n
• Prior experience in aggregate hauling, excavation, or construction trucking.
\n
• Familiarity with local roads (Jackson, Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County).
\n

Work Environment

\n

\n
• This position involves driving in seasonal weather, traffic, dust, noise, uneven terrain, and active construction areas. Drivers must remain alert and comfortable working around heavy equipment.
