Position Overview:

Our organization, a leading academic medical center focused on patient-centered care, is recognized nationally for its excellence in clinical services, biomedical research, and medical education.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is on the lookout for a Laborist to become part of our dynamic Faculty Group Practice (FGP) located in Manhattan. Our practice caters to a diverse patient base, managing both low and high-risk pregnancies, with around 2,500 deliveries annually at our Tisch Hospital campus.

As a Laborist, you will be integral in delivering outstanding inpatient care for those requiring obstetric admission. We are in search of a candidate who possesses excellent communication skills, is dedicated to patient safety and quality, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity, multi-disciplinary clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inpatient Coverage:
  • Provide thorough inpatient care for FGP patients as well as unassigned patients needing obstetric admission.
  • Admit and manage patients in labor, overseeing both routine and complex deliveries, including operative vaginal and cesarean sections.
• Triage and Evaluation:
  • Assess patients in triage as necessary and facilitate their admission or discharge based on clinical needs.
  • Manage postpartum patients, addressing complications related to pregnancy and delivery, ensuring routine postpartum care, and facilitating timely discharges.
• Neonatal Care:
  • Perform neonatal circumcisions as part of standard postpartum care.
  • Provide emergency care for patients facing early pregnancy complications.
• High-Risk Patient Supervision:
  • Oversee and deliver care for high-risk patients, with 24-hour consultation support from Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists.
  • Collaborate with General Ob/Gyn physicians for the primary management of laboring patients, unless otherwise coordinated with Maternal Fetal Medicine.
• Quality and Safety:
  • Uphold the highest standards of evidence-based obstetric care.
  • Contribute to departmental and unit quality and safety objectives, including achieving low primary cesarean delivery rates, minimal episiotomy rates, and prompt identification and escalation of clinical safety issues.
• Operational Workflows and HRO:
  • Follow established policies and procedures to improve operational workflows for patient care.
  • Promote a High Reliability Organization (HRO) by demonstrating professionalism towards patients, colleagues, and staff.
• Committee Participation:
  • Engage in committees and meetings focused on departmental growth, resident education, and quality initiatives, as needed.
• Educational and Research Contributions:
  • Support the educational and research objectives of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Compensation:

The salary for this position ranges from $275,000 to $350,000. This range is applicable for full-time roles and does not encompass incentive compensation or benefits. The position offers a variety of benefits, including generous paid vacation, healthcare coverage, tuition reimbursement, and a stipend for professional development. The actual salary may vary based on experience, training, community needs, and other relevant factors.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral Degree (M.D. or D.O.).
• Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Completion of a U.S. Accredited OB/GYN Residency training program.
• Valid New York State Medical license.
• A minimum of five years of professional experience.
• Excellent communication abilities.
