Our organization is looking for a part-time Certified Surgical Technician with experience in central sterile processing to join our dynamic Ambulatory Surgical Center in Lebanon!

Role Overview

Surgical technologists, often referred to as scrubs or operating room technicians, play a vital role in assisting with surgical procedures under the guidance of surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical staff. They are integral members of the operating room team, which typically includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. This role will also involve performing central sterile processing tasks on busy surgical days.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program
  • Experience with total joint procedures
  • Familiarity with central sterile processing
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a fast-paced operating room environment
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Current BLS Certification
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and medical equipment for procedures.
  • Set up the operating room by arranging surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions prior to operations.
  • Adhere to regulations and industry standards to assist patients during pre-operative procedures.
  • Conduct pre-operative preparations on patients' skin, body, and medical equipment.
  • Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
  • Transport patients to the operating room, assist in positioning them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile drapes.
  • Support the surgical team in donning sterile gowns and gloves.
  • Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and their assistants.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist in counting sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Aid in preparing, caring for, and disposing of specimens for laboratory analysis and assist in applying dressings.
  • Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and assist with diagnostic equipment.
  • After surgery, help transfer patients to recovery and clean and restock the operating room.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and assist with lifting or turning patients.
  • Engage in sitting and standing typical of an office environment.
  • Maintain concentration for up to four hours at a time.
  • Communicate effectively both in person and over the phone.
  • Utilize a computer keyboard and view a computer monitor.
