Our growing nonprofit organization in Winston-Salem is seeking an experienced Grant Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of grant funded programs that directly support our mission and community impact.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage grant budgets, expenditures, and funding allocations
- Prepare grant-related financial reports for federal, state, local, and private funding sources
- Ensure compliance with grant agreements, donor restrictions, and regulatory requirements
- Reconcile grant activity and maintain accurate supporting documentation
- Partner with program managers to review budgets, spending trends, and funding utilization
- Track restricted and unrestricted funding in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for grant-funded programs
- Support annual audits and provide required documentation related to grants and funding sources
- Review reimbursement requests and prepare drawdowns as needed
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization
- Experience managing grants, fund accounting, or government-funded programs
- Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting software and nonprofit financial systems preferred
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
