Colorectal Surgery - Boise, ID

Join a physician-led multispecialty group comprising over 650 providers, dedicated to a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. This role will involve working closely within the Minimally Invasive/Robotics surgical team and the colorectal division. As an integral member of the surgical oncology department, you will collaborate with fellow cancer surgeons, including those specialized in surgical oncology, breast, gynecologic, and advanced foregut procedures. The focus will be on minimally invasive techniques, robotics, and advanced therapeutic endoscopy, utilizing a range of cutting-edge surgical tools and methods, such as robotic systems, endoscopic, and advanced laparoscopic procedures. While expertise in pelvic floor disorders, manometry, and the management of complex inflammatory bowel disease is preferred, it is not essential for the right candidate. Our surgical services department is part of an accredited oncology program, fostering strong relationships with medical and radiation oncology. Furthermore, this multidisciplinary team is actively pursuing accreditation with the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC), with an expected completion date of Fall 2026. The facility, a Level II Trauma Center, features 381 beds and boasts a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure along with innovative technologies, including advanced imaging capabilities and award-winning clinical services. This full-time position follows a traditional workweek, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 32 hours dedicated to patient interactions, encompassing clinic visits, procedures, and consultations. Additionally, there is a 1:7 shared practice call arrangement within the MIS/robotics surgical group, with no unattached ER call and no responsibilities for acute care general surgery.

The facility includes a Level II Trauma Center, an Emergency Department, da Vinci XI & SI systems, a hospitalist program, and a neuro, surgical, and trauma ICU (NeST) with 24/7 coverage by surgical intensivists. Other services include a neuro-critical care Medical ICU, CVICU, NICU, and on-site anesthesia available around the clock, alongside gynecologic oncology and partnerships with independent community organizations.

Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
• Completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA general surgery residency program.
• Board certification from the American Board of Surgery (ABS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS), or the ability to obtain such certification within three years of employment.
• Completion of a fellowship in Colorectal Surgery.
• Ability to secure Idaho medical licensure and privileges at the facility and other affiliated hospitals as necessary; valid controlled substance registration with the Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
• Experience in open, minimally invasive, and robotic surgical techniques for colorectal cancer treatment. Expertise in pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and manometry is preferred.
• Capability to perform both basic and complex advanced surgical procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques for benign and malignant colorectal conditions.
• A collaborative leadership style that fosters teamwork within the oncology and surgical programs to uphold accreditation with the American College of General Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
