Position Overview
Our organization in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is seeking a Primary Care Physician specializing in Women's Health to become a part of our dedicated team. This position will work closely with our Women's Health Center, collaborating with specialists in Gynecology, UroGynecology, and Gynecologic Oncology. The role encompasses preventive care, management of chronic illnesses, reproductive and sexual health, wellness counseling, and the coordination of specialized care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive primary care services tailored for adult women.
- Conduct preventive health screenings and annual wellness check-ups.
- Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic health conditions.
- Provide gynecological preventive services, including:
- Pap smears and cervical cancer screenings.
- Contraceptive counseling and management.
- Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- Management of menopause and perimenopause.
- Coordinate care with specialists such as OB/GYN, breast surgery, endocrinology, cardiology, and oncology.
- Create personalized care plans focusing on preventive health and lifestyle medicine.
- Manage conditions frequently affecting women, including:
- Hypertension.
- Diabetes.
- Thyroid disorders.
- Osteoporosis.
- Anxiety and depression.
- Obesity and metabolic syndrome.
- Advise patients on nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation, sexual health, and healthy aging.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives, population health efforts, women's health outreach, and philanthropic activities to enhance the program.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records using the Epic electronic health record system.
- Support goals related to patient satisfaction, access, and continuity of care.
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nursing staff, care management, and ancillary personnel.
- This is a full-time role, though part-time and flexible scheduling options are available.
- This position is outpatient-based, with no hospital duties required.
- Participation in overnight telephone coverage in collaboration with a nearby physician group is necessary, but the volume is typically light, approximately 1:5 frequency.
Qualifications
Education
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution.
- Completion of residency training in:
- Family Medicine.
- Internal Medicine.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Licensure & Certification
- Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in Florida.
- DEA registration.
- BLS certification is required.
Typical Scope of Practice
The Women's Health Primary Care Specialist may provide:
- Annual preventive visits.
- Management of chronic diseases.
- Acute care for common primary care issues such as upper respiratory infections (URIs), urinary tract infections (UTIs), and other complaints.
