We are excited to announce an opening for a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to join our dedicated and mission-oriented team at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC) in Phoenix, Arizona. Our organization is a nonprofit, integrated medical group comprising over 450 healthcare providers across more than 25 medical and surgical specialties, serving the greater Phoenix area.
Position OverviewThis role is centered around a consultation-focused MFM practice, offering a distinctive chance to provide high-level, specialized care without the responsibilities of delivery. Physicians in this position will concentrate on:
- High-risk obstetric consultations
- Advanced ultrasound techniques
- Prenatal diagnostics
- Multidisciplinary care approaches
The practice is designed to promote both clinical excellence and a sustainable work-life balance.
Clinical EnvironmentVHMC acts as the safety-net hospital for Maricopa County, catering to a diverse and medically intricate patient population. MFM physicians will provide care in both clinic and hospital environments and will share home call responsibilities for VHMC and the Arizona Perinatal Program. The clinical program encompasses comprehensive high-risk obstetric services, including:
- Ultrasound
- Diagnostic testing
- Genetic counseling
- Diabetes education
This allows physicians to fully engage in consultative maternal-fetal medicine.
Teaching and MentorshipThis position also presents significant opportunities for teaching, mentoring, and influencing the next generation of physicians through academic involvement and leadership roles. MFM physicians will serve as core faculty for the Creighton University integrated OB/GYN Residency and MFM Fellowship, hosted at VHMC and St. Joseph’s Hospital/Dignity Health. The program accommodates 32 residents and one MFM fellow annually, fostering a vibrant learning atmosphere.
Our practice is further enhanced by academic partnerships with Creighton University, the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Arizona State University, providing opportunities for academic advancement and teaching medical students. Physicians are encouraged to participate in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and scholarly activities, with numerous opportunities in areas such as healthcare disparities, refugee women’s health, and federally funded research initiatives.

QualificationsIdeal candidates will possess:
- An M.D. or D.O. degree
- Board certification or eligibility in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
- Eligibility for medical licensure in Arizona
