Our organization is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative leader to take on the role of Director for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Division within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. This pivotal position involves enhancing the clinical, educational, and research objectives of the MFM Division while cultivating a culture of excellence, teamwork, and academic success. This role presents a remarkable opportunity to lead a developing division within an academic medical center and health system partnership, broadening perinatal services and high-risk pregnancy care throughout the region. The selected candidate will report directly to the Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences and will work closely with the leadership of the Women’s Health Service line to meet both local and system-wide goals and initiatives.
Leadership & Administration Responsibilities- Provide strategic guidance and leadership for the MFM Division, ensuring alignment with the priorities of the department, medical school, and health system.
- Supervise and support the clinical, educational, and research functions of the division.
- Design and implement innovative programs aimed at improving patient care, faculty development, and the education of residents and fellows.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain exceptional faculty and staff within the division.
- Ensure adherence to all institutional, state, and national regulations and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with hospital and health system leadership to enhance maternal and fetal care delivery across various locations.
- Oversee the provision of high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered perinatal care, including consultations for high-risk pregnancies, fetal therapy, and prenatal diagnostics.
- Develop and expand clinical services in maternal-fetal medicine, including outreach programs and telemedicine initiatives.
- Work alongside general obstetricians, neonatologists, and other specialists to improve multidisciplinary perinatal care.
- Collaborate with nursing and other health system areas to meet key performance indicators.
- Engage in clinical care, maintaining an active role in both inpatient and outpatient services within the division.
- Oversee quality measures, patient experiences, and outcomes for the program.
- Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing departmental productivity and financial performance.
- Provide mentorship and oversight for MFM faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Direct and enhance the MFM fellowship program, ensuring a comprehensive curriculum that complies with ACGME accreditation standards.
- Contribute to medical school teaching and educational initiatives, including lectures, workshops, and simulation training.
- Encourage and support clinical, translational, and basic science research within the division.
- Facilitate collaboration on research initiatives between the division, department, and institutional research centers.
- Motivate faculty and trainees to engage in scholarly activities, including publications and presentations at national conferences.
- Secure external funding to support research and innovation in perinatal care.
- A medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) is required.
- Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialty certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) is necessary.
- Eligibility for medical licensure in New Jersey is required.
- A minimum of five years of experience in maternal-fetal medicine, including expertise in ultrasound and invasive MFM procedures, is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic environment; experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering interdepartmental collaborations is preferred.
- A strong record of clinical excellence, research accomplishments, and dedication to education; candidates with a history of securing extramural research funding are preferred.
- Experience in program development, faculty mentorship, and collaboration with health system leadership is advantageous.
- Knowledge of quality improvement initiatives and population health strategies in perinatal care is preferred.
