An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Accountant to join a leading defence and aerospace organisation based at Oxford Airport. The Project Accountant role offers a fantastic chance to work on high-profile defence projects whilst supporting financial reporting and bid campaigns.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite minimum, offering flexibility and modern working practices.

\nThe Project Accountant Role\n
\n

The Project Accountant will be responsible for:

\n
    \n
  • Providing financial reporting on defence projects and supporting bid campaigns
  • \n
  • Validating the financial integrity of offers in liaison with senior management
  • \n
  • Developing work breakdown structures and project plans for contract proposals
  • \n
  • Preparing operating plans and monitoring budget forecasts
  • \n
  • Ensuring accurate allocation of costs and timely hour bookings across programmes
  • \n
  • Preparing Group contract reviews and monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC) updates
  • \n
  • Supporting month-end closing and financial reporting processes
  • \n
  • Maintaining defence-related financial data in SAP systems
  • \n
  • Providing ad hoc financial support and challenging delivery teams where necessary
  • \n

\nAbout The Project Accountant You Are\n
\nEssential Requirements:\n
\n
    \n
  • Professional accountancy qualification or part qualification
  • \n
  • Experience within a financial controlling and/or project reporting department
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of accountancy principles
  • \n
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • \n
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Excel
  • \n
  • Solid understanding of work package management and control
  • \n
  • Knowledge of risk management principles
  • \n
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet tight deadlines
  • \n
  • Structured and methodical approach to planning and tracking
  • \n
\n
\nDesirable Qualifications:\n
\n
    \n
  • Experience with SAP systems
  • \n
  • Project accounting experience
  • \n
  • Knowledge of Single Source Regulatory framework and Contract Regulations
  • \n
  • Familiarity with MoD Commercial and Accountancy procedures
  • \n
\n
\nWhat The Company Offers\n
\n

  • Competitive Pay: £33.10 per hour (PAYE) or £44.28 per hour (Umbrella)
  • \n
  • Contract Duration: 12 months with possible extension
  • \n
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00 (37.5 hours per week)
  • \n
  • Flexibility: Hybrid working with 3 days onsite minimum
  • \n
  • Location: Oxford, with occasional UK and European travel
  • \n
  • Security Clearance: Opportunity to obtain MoD Security Clearance (DBS required, current SC preferred)
  • \n
  • Professional Environment: Working on significant defence projects within an established aerospace organisation
