Interim Compliance Manager (Mortgages)

Broadgate
City of London, ENG, GB Full Time

Job Description

Interim Compliance Manager – Mortgages

\n

\n

We're working with an challenger UK mortgage lender that needs an Interim Compliance Manager to come in quickly and personally deliver the day-to-day compliance work across its residential lending book. This is a doing role, not a directing one — you'll be the one running the monitoring, writing up the findings, and giving the answers, working directly with the executive team. It suits someone who wants to be in the detail, not managing others to do it, and who can hit the ground running with no hand-holding.

\n

\n

The role

\n

Working directly with the executive team, you'll personally own and deliver the day-to-day compliance workload across the residential mortgage book. From day one you'll be doing the file reviews, running the monitoring checks, digging into the control gaps and drafting the fixes yourself, while giving the exec team clear, practical answers as the business works through a busy period. There's no team beneath you to delegate to — this is your workload to carry, and the appeal of the role is being genuinely close to the detail.

\n

\n

Key responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Personally run compliance monitoring and file checks across the residential mortgage book — doing the reviews yourself, not overseeing others.
  • \n
  • Get into the control environment hands-on: identify the gaps, write them up, and draft and implement the fixes.
  • \n
  • Answer day-to-day compliance queries from the exec team directly, giving clear, practical steers on products, processes and customer treatment.
  • \n
  • Do the legwork to evidence MCOB and Consumer Duty compliance and good customer outcomes — pulling the data, building the evidence, closing the actions.
  • \n
  • Support data protection obligations across the business.
  • \n
  • Draft and update policies, procedures and records yourself, and escalate anything significant to the exec team.
  • \n
\n

\n

What we're looking for

\n
    \n
  • Solid compliance experience gained inside a mortgage lender (specialist residential and/or prime) — not a broker or intermediary background.
  • \n
  • Someone who is genuinely hands-on and happy to be a team of one — doing the work personally rather than directing it.
  • \n
  • Good working knowledge of MCOB and Consumer Duty, and comfortable applying them in practice, at pace.
  • \n
  • The confidence and credibility to deal directly with senior stakeholders and the exec team.
  • \n
  • Practical, first-hand experience of compliance monitoring, advisory and controls work.
  • \n
  • Some data protection awareness.
  • \n
