Job Description
Job Title: Maintenance Technician
\n Location: Derby
\n Salary: £29 per hour (Umbrella)
\n Employment Type: 6-12 Months
Working Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off, consisting of two blocks of day shifts followed by two blocks of night shifts - Day Shifts: 7:30am - 6:30pm/Night Shifts: 7:15pm - 7:00am
\nMain Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Perform Scheduled Maintenance activities on the rolling stock in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions. \n
- Undertake servicing and preparation of the rolling stock. \n
- Undertake driving duties within depot confines in accordance with the depot operating procedures and instructions. \n
- Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities. \n
- Support the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes. \n
- Ensure exam tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required. \n
- Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures. \n
- Attendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required. \n
- Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time. \n
- Support the Maintenance Team Leaders and Shift Production Managers in the delivery of the production plan. \n
- Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures. \n
- Working shifts to meet the service requirements of fleet customers. \n
- Assist as required with any other responsibilities relevant to the role based on localised requirement. \n
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
\nEssential
\nLicences / Competences
\n- \n
- Network Rail Sentinel PTS. \n
- Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, Powered plant, and tools. \n
- Experience of working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment. \n
- Outstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational railway engineering environment. \n
- Experience of working at stabling outstations or main line station technical support. \n
- Modern fault finding and repair techniques using pc-based laptops and remote train diagnostics. \n
- Extensive experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis. \n
- Experience of performing modifications and campaigns on modern rolling stock. \n
Qualifications
\n- \n
- Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines. \n
- Engineering based NVQ level 3. \n

- Can comfortably work within a team or on their own. \n
- Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external). \n
- Able to always represent Hitachi in a professional manner. \n
- Calm and diplomatic under pressure. \n
- Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports. \n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. \n
- Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company. \n
- Loyal, committed, confident and determined. \n
Desirable
\nLicences / Competences

- Intermediate IT skills - typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook \n
- Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings reading \n
- Powered plant and tools - bogie drop, cranes, air systems / 110v tools \n
- Depot Protection \n
- Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation \n
