Senior Quantity Surveyor
Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Structural Steel
\nLocation: Central London
\nSalary: Up to £85,000 DOE
\nJob Type: Permanent, Full Time
\nThe Company
\nSome construction projects disappear once the hoarding comes down.
\nOthers become part of the London skyline.
\nThis is an opportunity to join an established structural steel business delivering significant projects across the UK, with a strong pipeline of work and an increasing presence across the London market.
\nThe projects are there. The workload is there. What they need now is an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who understands structural steelwork and can take real ownership of the commercial side of projects.
\nThis isn't about simply keeping spreadsheets up to date.
\nIt's about knowing where the money is, where the risks are and what needs to happen to keep a project commercially on track.
\nThe Role
\nYou will:
\n- \n
- Own the commercial management of structural steel projects from contract award through to final account. \n
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, variations, change control and commercial reporting. \n
- Protect project margins by identifying commercial risks and opportunities early. \n
- Lead commercial discussions with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams. \n
- Work closely with estimating, project management and delivery teams to ensure the commercial position reflects what is actually happening on the project. \n
- Drive final accounts and make sure commercial issues are resolved rather than carried from one project to the next. \n
The Candidate
\nThis is not a role for someone looking to make the step into Quantity Surveying.
\nYou will have 5–10 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor, together with a strong and demonstrable background in structural steelwork.
\nYou should be able to demonstrate:
\n- \n
- 5–10 years' Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within structural steel, steelwork or specialist construction. \n
- Strong structural steelwork experience and an understanding of the commercial challenges around fabrication, supply and installation. \n
- Experience managing valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts. \n
- Confidence dealing directly with clients, subcontractors and project teams. \n
- The ability to identify commercial risk, protect margins and challenge decisions when required. \n
- Experience taking ownership of projects and being accountable for the commercial outcome. \n
Why this opportunity stands out
\n- \n
- Up to £85,000 depending on experience. \n
- A genuine senior commercial position with ownership of your projects. \n
- The opportunity to work on significant structural steel projects within the London market. \n
- Direct exposure to senior decision-makers and key commercial discussions. \n
- A strong project pipeline providing long-term stability. \n
- The chance to join a business where your commercial experience will have a direct impact rather than simply becoming another name on the payroll. \n
This is the sort of opportunity that is worth a conversation before deciding whether you're ready for a move.
\nHow to Apply
\nIf you have 5–10 years' Quantity Surveying experience and a strong structural steelwork background, I'd be keen to speak with you.
\nSend your CV across and I'll give you the full picture, including the business, the projects and what they're looking for from the person they appoint.
