About the Role

\n

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Property Maintenance Lecturer & Carpentry Skills Coach to join our Further Education institution on a temporary, full-time basis.

\n

This is a dual-role position involving two days per week teaching Property Maintenance Operative (PMO) apprentices and three days per week supporting and reviewing Carpentry apprentices in the workplace.

\n

The successful candidate will be passionate about developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople, delivering engaging lessons, and supporting apprentices to achieve their qualifications and career goals.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Deliver high-quality teaching to Property Maintenance Operative (PMO) apprentices for two days each week.
  • \n
  • Act as a Skills Coach for Carpentry apprentices, carrying out workplace reviews, progress assessments, and providing ongoing support for three days each week.
  • \n
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet awarding body and curriculum requirements.
  • \n
  • Monitor apprentice progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • \n
  • Complete workplace observations, reviews, and assessments in line with apprenticeship standards.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate learner records and complete all associated administration in a timely manner.
  • \n
  • Support learners aged 16–18 and adult apprentices, promoting excellent attendance, progress, and achievement.
  • \n
  • Work closely with employers to ensure apprentices receive the support needed to succeed.
  • \n
  • Promote safe working practices and maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
  • \n

Essential Requirements

\n
    \n
  • A minimum of 6 months' experience teaching 16–18-year-old learners in the UK within a Property Maintenance, Carpentry, Construction, or similar Further Education setting.
  • \n
  • Relevant industry experience in Property Maintenance, Carpentry, or Construction.
  • \n
  • A recognised Further Education teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • \n
  • Minimum Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent).
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and motivate learners.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with accurate learner record-keeping.
  • \n
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with learners, employers, and colleagues.
  • \n

  • Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualifications.
  • \n
  • Experience delivering apprenticeship standards.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship funding and compliance requirements.
  • \n
  • Experience using e-portfolio systems.
  • \n
