Job Description
Composite Operator
\nPROFILE
\nTo manufacture aircraft components from composite materials which meet design and engineering requirements.
\nKEY DELIVERABLES
\n- \n
- Manufacture aircraft components from carbon and glass fibre pre-preg materials \n
- Use processing equipment to lay-up and cure composite wing spars and test pieces \n
- Use forming presses, drape machines, vacuum presses, automated tape lay and fibre placement machines, laser projection equipment, autoclaves and ovens to manufacture and cure composite spars \n
- Prepare and clean mandrels and cure tooling for manufacture of composite spars \n
- Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities \n
- Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements \n
QUALIFICATIONS
\n- \n
- Experience of assembling and manufacturing production components using drawings and processes \n
- Experience in a manual handling work environment \n
KEY SKILLS
\n- \n
- Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances \n
- Good hand skills and co-ordination \n
- Understand aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems \n
- Knowledge of composite bonding and assembly techniques using pre-preg materials \n
- Ability to operate CNC machines and processes \n
- Self-motivation with good communication and interpersonal skills \n
- Ability to work both alone and in small teams \n
- Ability and willingness to undertake training and understanding of composite manufacturing techniques and processes \n
- To take responsibility to “self-certify” own work \n
- Working knowledge of IT systems including SAP and Microsoft packages \n
