Optometrist or Ophthalmologist – Veteran Disability Evaluations

Our organization is in search of a committed Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to join our team in conducting medical evaluations for U.S. Veterans as part of the disability benefits assessment process. Become a part of our team to perform thorough eye examinations for Veterans. This position is fulfilling and focuses exclusively on assessments, without treatment or decision-making responsibilities.

Primary Duties:
  • Conduct face-to-face disability evaluations for U.S. Veterans.
  • Examine and interpret electronic medical records through a secure online platform.
  • Carry out comprehensive eye examinations, including Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Carefully document examination results and complete necessary VA paperwork.

Important: This position does not involve treatment or prescribing medications. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is responsible for making disability determinations, not the provider.

Position Overview:
  • Schedule: Part-Time, 3-4 days per week.
  • Location: In-person role.
  • Caseload: Average of 4-6 Veterans per day.
  • Equipment Provided: Computer and all necessary documentation tools.
Ideal Candidate:
  • A caring Optometrist or Ophthalmologist who is passionate about assisting the Veteran community.
  • Strong analytical abilities to assess medical records and evaluation data.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in electronic documentation and online platforms.
  • A professional and empathetic approach when engaging with Veterans.
Qualifications:
  • Possesses an active and unrestricted Optometrist or Ophthalmologist license.
  • Experienced in Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Comfortable with technology for reviewing records and completing documentation.
