Position Overview:

The role involves assessing and providing care for patients requiring respiratory therapy. You will administer prescribed therapeutic services related to respiratory health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate treatment type and frequency, creating a care plan based on their diagnosis.
  • Deliver respiratory care services following physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
  • Implement and oversee patient care plans and equipment, while monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient conditions. Perform advanced respiratory care techniques.
  • Assess respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatment effectiveness based on patient outcomes.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and available community support resources.
  • Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment, while helping to manage departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment. Ensure equipment is cleaned and sterilized according to established protocols.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
  • Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly use speech for effective oral communication.
  • Consistently stand and walk.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regularly sit, reach, and perform data entry tasks.
  • Frequently utilize vision for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as color differentiation.
  • Regularly use smell to identify odors.
  • Frequently use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
  • Occasionally lift or move objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally assist in lifting or moving patients.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
  • Occasionally drive.
  • Rarely crawl or run.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

Location: Missouri

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Or
  • Respiratory Educ Permit - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
