Position OverviewThis role involves providing expert nursing care in the surgical environment for patients undergoing various surgical or invasive procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Execute scrub duties, which include selecting and managing instruments and supplies utilized during procedures.
- Carry out circulating responsibilities, such as monitoring, documenting, and communicating the patient's condition while overseeing their nursing care before, during, and after the procedure.
- Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, including hemostasis, suturing, and ensuring proper patient positioning.
- Prepare operating rooms along with surgical instruments and equipment for procedures.
- Implement evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in nursing to ensure care is tailored to the patient's age and clinical requirements as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
- As a nurse within our organization, uphold the professional nursing standards established in our practice model, utilizing the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to address the evolving health and nursing needs of our patients.
- Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school or equivalent educational background for licensing.
- Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
- Regularly communicate verbally to share information.
- Consistently stand and walk.
- Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
- Utilize vision for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
- Employ smell to identify and recognize odors.
- Use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect body sounds or alarms.
- Occasionally lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasionally assist in moving patients.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
- Occasionally drive.
- Rarely crawl or run.
Depending on the state of work location, the following certifications are required:
- Illinois: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Missouri: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State.
- Oklahoma: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
- Wisconsin: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
