Job Title: LPN Infection Preventionist

The LPN Infection Preventionist is responsible for assessing the quality of care provided to residents, particularly in relation to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI). This role adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards. Key responsibilities include:

• Collecting, preparing, and analyzing data related to HAIs.
• Presenting findings on infection data and offering actionable recommendations.
• Monitoring compliance with infection control standards among staff, utilizing barriers and preventive measures.
• Developing and delivering educational sessions for staff, residents, and their families.
• Acting as a resource for all departments and personnel within the organization.

Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements

• Completion of an accredited LPN program.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) in the relevant state, with an obligation to maintain good standing throughout employment.
• CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation, with a necessity to keep it current during employment.
• Specialized training in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) beyond initial education, with a requirement to reassess knowledge and skills if the resident population changes.
• Preferred experience in geriatrics.
• Certifications or training as mandated by state regulations (e.g., Certified TB Nurse).

Specific Job Requirements

• Designated associate responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies, including the CDC.
• Acting as the on-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response, following current CDC guidelines.
• Work must be conducted on-site at the facility; off-site consulting or work at a separate location is not permitted.
• Accountable for the development and oversight of the Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
• Stay informed about current trends and methodologies in infection control and employee health practices.
• Perform duties within the scope of the nursing license.
• Make independent decisions when necessary.
• Possess knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control practices, as well as the laws and guidelines governing nursing in post-acute care settings.
• Implement and interpret the objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all relevant competency areas.
• Maintain professional relationships with all associates and vendors.
• Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information.
• Adhere to organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
• Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing all required compliance training.
