HGV Class 2 Driver - Gritters

We are currently recruiting a Class 2 Winter Maintenance Gritter Driver for our client, based at DRAYTON and DEDDINGTON Oxfordshire.This is a fantastic opportunity to earn guaranteed standby pay throughout the winter season, plus additional call-out rates when required.Job Role:Standby Gritter Driver (Class 2)Key Details:Guaranteed Standby Payment: £241.37 per week (Friday AM to Friday AM)Plus, Call-out Pay: 5 hours at £21.25 per hour PAYE Adv, when called in to workPaid Training: One day theory + one day practical to obtain a Winter TicketContract: Zero-hours contractContract Period: 5 monthsWorking Hours: Weather-dependent, maximum 5 hours gritting per shift with a 1-hour break. Possible 2 shifts in a 24-hour period (with a 10-hour rest between).Onboarding: Digital handbook via app; digi card to be downloaded weekly on site for compliancePPE Provided: Trousers, jackets, high-vis, hard hat, gloves (boots available if required)Operation: Runs 24/7 during winter monthsDaily Briefing: 11:00 am meeting to assess weather actions; call-outs may occur at short notice (early mornings or late evenings)Important Notes:Once committed, you cannot undertake other driving duties while on standby between November and March.All work is carried out on tachographs.Training dates will be confirmed in advance (starting September). Trainers get booked quickly during the winter period, so early confirmation is essential.Its important to consider your proximity to the site, as you will need to be on site within 1 hour of being called in, while driving with due care and diligence in severe weather conditionsNext Steps:You will need to complete a telephone interview with our client so they can assess your suitability for the role.
