About the School\n

Located in Burnley, Lancashire, our school accommodates up to 48 pupils aged 5 to 18 years with a range of complex needs. Your Role and Responsibilities\n

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

\n

\n
• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
\n
• Assist the classroom teacher during lessons.
\n
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other staff to meet pupils' needs.
\n
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
\n
• Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
\n
• Set work where appropriate and mark assignments.
\n
• Build positive relationships with pupils to drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
\n

Requirements and Qualifications\n

We are looking for candidates who:

\n
• Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
\n
• Possess sound IT skills.
\n
• Have previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
\n
• Have experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
\n
• Are confident in taking additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
\n
• Have experience in behaviour management techniques.
\n
• Are committed to professional development and eager to learn.
\n
• Are willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting work.
\n

Working Conditions\n

This is a full-time, term-time only position with a salary ranging from £21,257.48 to £23,232.69. You will enjoy a workplace that values the emotional health and wellbeing of everyone, including you!

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which will be covered by Polaris Community.
