Instructs and guides patients through functional activities, such as bed mobility, transfers, gait, and balance activities. Works under minimal supervision and may mentor and train staff on technical skills.br brJob Requirements:brbrEducation and Work Experience:br ul liHigh School Education/GED or equivalent: Required/li liAssociate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred/li liTwo years' technical experience: Preferred/li liExperience in therapy in an acute care environment, acute therapy unit and/or out patient setting: Preferred/li /ulbrLicenses/Certifications:br ul liPhysical Therapy Assistant licensure in all applicable states of practice: Required/li liCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required/li liValid Driver's License (DL) and must be at least 21 years of age or older: Required/li /ulbrEssential Functions:br ul liPerforms physical therapy treatments, including the use of modalities, manual techniques and common exercise techniques. Instructs and guides patients through functional activities, such as bed mobility, transfers and gait and balance activities./li liObserves and follows treatment precautions as identified by physical therapists, nurses or physicians. Observes for changes in patient responses and reports changes to nurses and physical therapists in charge./li liProvides daily and timely patient chart documentation of interventions and services provided in the acute care setting. Documents employee and out-patient treatments, as necessary./li liProvides education and training to patients and caregivers, while incorporating learning style preferences.
