Job Description
Title: C++ Embedded Software Engineer 3 #100249
Location: onsite Mossville, IL 100% M-F; open to relocation candidates but MUST be able to be onsite day 1 of contract (max 2 weeks from offer) and relocate at own costs (swoon nor client provide relocation services)
Type: Contract
Hours: 8-5 M-F (40 hour work week) with potential for OT
Pay: $52-53/hr w2 (exact rate no flex)
Length: 24 months-possibility to convert to full time
Screenings: tech prior to submission, full panel drug and background once hired
IV process: 2 rounds
+optional benefits, long term contract with ability to extend or convert to full time
Must Haves:
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
- 6-7 years experience required OR will accept master’s degree with 5 years industry experience.
- Strong coding
- Strong software design analysis
- Capable of expressing positions without confrontation

Summary:
The main function of an embedded software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the embedded software and systems that make computers work. A typical embedded software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.
Job Responsibilities:
• Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment for product lines.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
Skills:
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
• Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
• Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. Solid programming experience in C or C++
• Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to embedded systems, such as SQL, etc.
Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- This position is for a Software Engineer to support the Detect Application group within the Cat Robotics division. The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team to design, develop, integrate, and test software features on embedded electronic controls for use in safety detect machine applications.
Job responsibilities include:
- Detect feature development in embedded C++, Linux, GitHub
- Issue resolution through triage and troubleshooting
- Agile Sprint environment
- Validation plan development
- Coordination with a global team of machine, systems, software, and validation teams
- Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse work group
