Day shifts available (United States). If you are an experienced Operating Room Nurse, we invite you to join our team at Cobb Hospital! Virtual interviews will be conducted within the same week for interested candidates.

Job Overview

The RN Clinical Perioperative Nurse plays a vital role as part of an interdisciplinary team, consisting of both licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This team ensures that patients, their families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. The clinical environment is overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our Shared Governance Model. Our practice framework is guided by the Professional Practice Model, 5-Star Nursing, and evidence-based practices. RN competencies are derived from these models and reinforced by our Core Competencies.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practices outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, you will uphold the voice of the patient while adhering to system policies and procedures, all while supporting our service excellence goals.

  • Conduct the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
  • Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that reflects an understanding of diverse populations (e.g., age, gender, disease) and cultural differences.
  • Engage with patients and significant others appropriately, using methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.
  • Adhere to current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through inclusive interdisciplinary communication.
  • Exhibit teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives, supporting research and quality patient care, and actively participate in shared governance at all levels.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Complete all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, ensuring a qualified workforce and fostering a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Encourage evidence-based practices, nursing research, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in data collection and address clinical questions using appropriate resources and evidence.
Resources and Support
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Support the efficient use of human and material resources.

Other duties may be assigned as needed. Compliance with all organizational policies, work standards, and the code of conduct is expected.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum education: Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Licenses and certifications required upon hire: RN (Single State or Multi-state Compact), BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • Minimum experience: At least 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience.
