A Day in the Life of a Med-Surg RNResponsibilities
  • The Registered Nurse is accountable for the practice of Professional Nursing, which encompasses patient care and the management of staff assigned to their care.
  • May take on the responsibilities of Charge Nurse and is accountable for maintaining professional standards.
  • Follows established policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and safeguard patient safety.
Qualifications

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree or Nursing Diploma.
  • A valid New Mexico Nursing license or a compact license (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • BLS certification must be secured within 14 days of hire or transfer into the position and before providing direct patient care.
  • Department may also require ACLS and/or PALS certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a specialized area.
  • At least 2 years of general nursing experience.
