Job Description

Role: Serious Injury Fee Earner Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Salary: £33,000 - £42,000 Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid We are working in partnership with a well-established legal services provider to recruit a Serious Injury Fee Earner to join their specialist Serious Injury team. The role will involve managing a caseload of claimant RTA-related serious injury claims, typically valued up to £50,000. This is a highly client-focused position, combining technical litigation expertise with significant responsibility for supporting clients through complex and often life-changing circumstances.

The Role\n

As a Serious Injury Fee Earner, you will take ownership of your own caseload, acting as the key point of contact for clients from initial instruction through to settlement or litigation. Given the nature of the claims, you will work closely with clients who have experienced significant and often traumatic injuries. Strong communication, empathy and the ability to build trusted client relationships will therefore be central to the role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of claimant RTA serious injury claims, typically valued up to £50,000.
  • \n
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the lifecycle of their claims.
  • \n
  • Conducting regular client communication and attending face-to-face meetings where required.
  • \n
  • Assessing liability, causation and quantum and developing appropriate case strategies.
  • \n
  • Reviewing, analysing and obtaining medical and expert evidence.
  • \n
  • Liaising with medical professionals, care providers, case managers, Counsel and other external experts.
  • \n
  • Conducting legal research and applying relevant legislation, case law and procedural requirements.
  • \n
  • Drafting key legal documentation, including witness statements, pleadings and schedules of loss.
  • \n
  • Securing interim payments where appropriate and ensuring suitable rehabilitation and support is put in place.
  • \n
  • Progressing claims proactively towards the best possible settlement outcome or litigation where required.
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring files are progressed efficiently and in line with internal procedures.

About You\n

We are ideally seeking a qualified Solicitor or CILEX Fellow, although candidates with strong, relevant personal injury experience may also be considered where they can demonstrate the ability to meet the required billing expectations. You will have experience handling personal injury claims and ideally have exposure to serious, complex or higher-value injury matters. You should be confident managing your own caseload and making informed decisions around case strategy and progression. You will also bring:

  • The ability to prioritise and manage a busy caseload effectively.

  • Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office.

  • A proactive, resilient and commercially aware approach to your work.
