Design Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure business working as part of a major water infrastructure alliance. With AMP8 bringing the largest capital investment programme in the organisation's history, this is an opportunity to join at an exciting time and take a leading role in delivering major projects across the water sector. The role will focus on a portfolio of potable water, non-infrastructure and water treatment projects, including a high-profile £60m water treatment works upgrade. What You'll Be Doing As Design Manager, you'll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team of around 15–20 engineers and design professionals, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of engineering solutions across your portfolio. Your responsibilities will include: * Leading multidisciplinary design delivery across a portfolio of water projects. * Developing Engineering Project Plans covering scope, programme, cost, risk and resources. * Providing technical direction alongside Senior Discipline Engineers. * Managing design quality and ensuring a right-first-time approach. * Managing design risk assessments and health & safety documentation. * Driving innovation, digital technology and continuous improvement. * Supporting the transition and transformation of the engineering function through AMP8. What We're Looking For We're keen to speak with experienced Design Managers who have: * A degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. * Proven experience within the water industry. * Ideally, experience delivering potable water and non-infrastructure treatment projects. * Knowledge of CDM and design risk management. * Chartered Engineer status, or a willingness to work towards Chartership, would be advantageous.
