General Foreman – Civils & Mechanical Projects Location: Oxford & surrounding areas Start Date: ASAP Rate: £(Apply online only) per day, depending on experience Contract: Freelance / CIS We are currently recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a leading national contractor on a range of civils and mechanical projects in and around Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong, hands-on General Foreman with experience delivering civil engineering and/or mechanical works on live construction sites. The Role As General Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing site activities, managing subcontractors and direct labour, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required programme and quality standards. Projects will vary and may include civil engineering, groundworks, infrastructure, mechanical installation and associated works. Key Responsibilities * Supervising and coordinating site activities and works packages * Managing gangs, subcontractors and site operatives * Ensuring works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications and programme * Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance * Coordinating with Site Managers, Project Managers and engineers * Monitoring progress and productivity on site * Supporting daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inductions * Ensuring RAMS are understood and adhered to * Identifying and resolving site issues efficiently * Maintaining site records and reporting progress to management Requirements * Previous experience working as a General Foreman / Foreman on civils, infrastructure or mechanical projects * Strong understanding of construction site operations * Experience managing gangs and subcontractors * Good knowledge of health & safety requirements * Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications * SMSTS preferred * CSCS required * Relevant civils/mechanical experience * Excellent communication and organisational skills * Right to work in the UK What’s on Offer? * £350–£400 per day, depending on experience * Immediate start available * Long-term opportunities across multiple projects * Work with a leading national contractor * Projects based in and around Oxford * Opportunity for further work following successful completion If you're an experienced General Foreman looking for your next opportunity and are available to start ASAP, we'd like to hear from you
