\nWe are currently recruiting a Class 2 Winter Maintenance Gritter Driver for our client, based at DRAYTON and DEDDINGTON Oxfordshire.
\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to earn guaranteed standby pay throughout the winter season, plus additional call-out rates when required.
\nJob Role:
\nStandby Gritter Driver (Class 2)
\nKey Details:

- Guaranteed Standby Payment: £241.37 per week (Friday AM to Friday AM) \n
- Plus, Call-out Pay: 5 hours at £21.25 per hour PAYE Adv, when called in to work \n
- Paid Training: One day theory + one day practical to obtain a Winter Ticket \n
- Contract: Zero-hours contract \n
- Contract Period: 5 months \n
- Working Hours: Weather-dependent, maximum 5 hours gritting per shift with a 1-hour break. Possible 2 shifts in a 24-hour period (with a 10-hour rest between). \n
- Onboarding: Digital handbook via app; digi card to be downloaded weekly on site for compliance \n
- PPE Provided: Trousers, jackets, high-vis, hard hat, gloves (boots available if required) \n
- Operation: Runs 24/7 during winter months \n
- Daily Briefing: 11:00 am meeting to assess weather actions; call-outs may occur at short notice (early mornings or late evenings) \n

- Once committed, you cannot undertake other driving duties while on standby between November and March. \n
- All work is carried out on tachographs. \n
- Training dates will be confirmed in advance (starting September). Trainers get booked quickly during the winter period, so early confirmation is essential. \n
- It’s important to consider your proximity to the site, as you will need to be on site within 1 hour of being called in, while driving with due care and diligence in severe weather conditions \n
