Job Description

This role sits within a busy in-house legal team, providing advice on a broad range of banking and finance transactions while helping to manage legal and regulatory risk. You'll work closely with key stakeholders across the business, supporting deal execution, documentation and wider commercial legal matters.

Our client is a well-established international financial institution with a strong presence in the UK market. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Legal Counsel to join their London-based legal team, supporting a broad range of banking and finance activities across the business.

Description

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to join a collaborative in-house legal team, advising on a varied portfolio of lending and financing transactions while supporting wider business and regulatory initiatives.

\n

Key responsibilities will include:

\n
    \n
  • Advising on a range of banking and finance transactions, identifying legal and regulatory risks and delivering practical solutions.
  • \n
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating finance documentation, including facility agreements, term sheets and related transactional documents.
  • \n
  • Supporting transaction execution from inception through to completion.
  • \n
  • Working closely with front office and business stakeholders across Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions teams.
  • \n
  • Providing legal input on new products and business initiatives.
  • \n
  • Advising on commercial contracts and general legal matters across the organisation.
  • \n
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and helping to deliver training and guidance to stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Contributing to legal risk management, governance and policy-related projects.
  • \n

Profile

\n

The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with strong banking and finance experience gained within private practice or an in-house financial services environment.

You will ideally have:

\n
    \n
  • Experience advising on general lending and banking transactions.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of the UK banking and regulatory landscape.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with LMA-based documentation and financing structures.
  • \n
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • \n
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • \n
  • A proactive, commercial and solutions-focused approach.
  • \n
