Job Title: Discovery Engineer - Architecture & Flow Management

Location: London (50% onsite)

Contract: 6 months initial, with a view to extend

About the Role

\n

Our client, a leading global investment bank, is looking for an experienced engineer to manage the architecture, network flows, and rationalisation of their global BMC Helix Discovery deployment.

\n

Main Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Lead architecture and network flow management project activities, reporting progress to the Discovery team manager
  • \n
  • Perform recurring platform health checks and use results to shape new project work
  • \n
  • Collaborate with the wider team on architecture direction, enhancements, and fixes
  • \n
  • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships to deliver project outcomes
  • \n
  • Understand external (non-BMC) tools and processes critical to project delivery
  • \n
  • Provide clear, weekly progress updates across multiple concurrent project streams
  • \n
  • Improve and redefine process activities where applicable
  • \n
  • Implement automation to improve efficiency and delivery time
  • \n
  • Research new technologies to enhance the discovery service
  • \n
  • Provide L2/L3 support for incidents, changes, and requests
  • \n
\n

Approx. 80% project-focused, 20% BAU.

Essential Experience

\n
    \n
  • Experience within a BMC Discovery environment (consultant, contractor, or permanent)
  • \n
  • Excellent understanding of BMC Discovery at architectural and configurational level
  • \n
  • Certifications desirable but not critical - strong field experience matters more
  • \n
\n

Role-Specific Technical Skills & Knowledge

    \n
  • Expert knowledge of BMC Discovery (formerly ADDM) - deployment, architecture, configuration best practice, and rationalisation principles
  • \n
  • Communication & access protocols: SSH, HTTPS, DCOM, REST API
  • \n
  • BMC Discovery connection protocols: UNIX Shell, WMI, PowerShell
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of BMC Discovery pattern language (TPL)
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of the BMC Discovery data model & query language
  • \n
  • Administrative knowledge of Linux, Windows, virtualisation, databases, networking & directory services
  • \n
