Junior Barristers Clerk
\nLocation: Seaton - Devon
\nHours: Monday to Friday, between 8:30am and 5.30pm (or as required)
\nReporting to: Senior Clerk
\nSalary: £600 for 5 day week (Mon-Fri) | 28 days paid holiday (includes bank holidays)
\nWe are recruiting for a Junior Clerk to join a busy and professional barrister clerking team working at our admin offices in Seaton, Devon. Our barristers offer legal services throughout England & Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in clerking and practice management within the legal sector. On-site 5 days week.
\nThe Role
\nThe successful candidate will provide an effective and efficient practice management service, supporting barristers and clerks to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of chambers. You will play a key role in diary management, client liaison and court preparation working closely with the Senior Clerk and the other clerks.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nGeneral Clerking Duties
\nProviding a high-quality clerking and practice management service at all times
\nManaging high volume email traffic quickly and efficiently
\nAnswering telephone calls promptly and professionally
\nHandling enquiries from solicitors, clients and third parties, ensuring accurate records are maintained
\nEntering and managing bookings, digital papers and notes on the booking systems
\nManaging barristers' diaries and ensuring accurate court listings, venues and timings
\nAssisting with fee quotes, billing and fee chasing as directed by Senior Clerk
\nAdditional Responsibilities
\nDeputising for clerks during periods of absence, as agreed
\nSupporting inter-team cooperation to ensure efficient service delivery
\nPresenting a professional image of chambers at all times
\nUndertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the practice management function
