General Manager

Location: CreweSalary: £60,000-£66,000 plus benefits packageSummary:We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead a large-scale operation within a fast-paced logistics environment. This is a high-impact role for a strong people leader who can manage complexity, drive operational performance, and deliver sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will have experience managing 100+ people and will be comfortable operating across both manual and automated environments. You will take overall responsibility for operational performance, people, customer service, compliance, and commercial delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who leads from the front, builds strong relationships, and is passionate about developing people.Key Responsibilities:Lead, motivate, and develop a workforce of 100+ employees and take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation and site performanceManage warehouse and transport operationsDrive operational performance through effective KPI management and continuous improvementEnsure the operation consistently delivers agreed service, quality, productivity, and safety standardsManage operational budgets, costs, and commercial performanceDevelop and coach managers and operational teams to create a high-performance cultureEnsure full compliance with transport, Health & Safety, and company requirementsBuild strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholdersIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitabilityLead operational change and implement best practice across the businessKey Skills/Experience:Proven experience operating at General Manager level within logistics, transport, warehousing, or a similar environmentCurrent CPC qualification is essentialProven experience managing 100+ employeesExperience working across both manual and automated operationsStrong understanding of transport and warehouse operationsExcellent people leadership and development skillsA natural leader who can engage, motivate, and influence at all levelsStrong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, KPIs, and operational costsProven track record of delivering continuous improvement and operational changeStrong decision-making and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesHands-on, resilient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environmentProcessing Your DataBis Henderson Recruitment is a leading provider of recruitment, interim management and consultancy services to the supply chain and logistics industry.
