\nWe have opportunities for you to specialise in School Age: responsible for children and young people age 5 – 19 with an EHCP who attend a school.
\nAbout the role
\nAs an EHC Coordinator, you’ll manage and process EHC plans within a complex legal framework and tight statutory timescales. This is a highly process-driven role, requiring meticulous attention to detail and strong case management skills. You’ll be reviewing documents, implementing legal requirements, and creating, amending, and maintaining plans that shape the support children receive. While you’ll communicate regularly with practitioners, parents, and carers, these conversations are focused on statutory processes and decision-making, rather than direct interaction with children or young people.
\nResponsibilities include:
\n- \n
- Developing the highest standards of achievement and inclusion for children and young people with SEN through effective casework within the policy and budget framework of the Council, ensuring a focus on preparing for adulthood from the earliest ages. \n
- Taking responsibility for the preparation of information for parents, children, young people and schools, which provides the right information at the appropriate time, in a simple to use way, which engages partners in understanding what our responsibility is to children, families and schools. \n
- Managing and processing statutory casework within legal and internal timelines \n
- Working collaboratively with professionals across education, health and care services \n
- Ensuring effective case management, integrated working practice and successful outcomes for children. \n
- Participating in resource decisions, taking the lead where appropriate, for example decision making processes relating to whether or not assessment or plans are written, or whether specialist provision is agreed, ensuring that resource decisions are in line with local authority policies, procedures and eligibility criteria. This could include chairing or attending panel meetings. \n
- Participating, as required, in a range of meetings with other professionals and parents/carers in relation to individual children with complex needs, including representing Children’s Services at annual review, chairing reviews, attending and chairing multi-agency meetings as appropriate. \n
- Contributing to the development of policy, procedures and provision for children with SEN children’s needs, which includes maintaining an up-to-date knowledge relating to SEN casework, changes to national legislation and departmental policies, and supporting induction/training and support to all team members. \n
- Inputting and maintaining accurate and comprehensive database records as required and participate in the Local Authority’s systems for monitoring and quality assurance for children and young people known to the EHC assessment and review team. \n
About you
\nEssential:

- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the Children and Families Act 2014, with the ability to interpret and apply this guidance effectively in practice. \n
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills \n
- Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure in a busy environment \n
- Excellent written skills to support accurate case recording and contribute to quality EHC plans \n
- Experience of working with children, families, or professionals in education, health, or care settings OR transferable skills/lived experience relevant to SEND \n
- Hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work \n
